EV Charging Part 3: Charging Networks
We've come to the last part of this 3 part series on Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargers. So far, we listed out the types of EV chargers and the differences between a Level 1, a Level 2, and a Level 3 charger. We also listed out the steps to take in order to install one at home, at a townhouse, or in an apartment complex. However, how does one charge when on the road? It is also good to know how to go about charging your EV in public areas and where the most accessible charging stations are.
Luckily, there are numerous public charging stations readily available across British Columbia. Level 2 and Level 3 chargers are becoming more and more common as the shift to EVs become more popular each day.
There are a few companies that provide charging stations readily available for public use. The 5 main networks in BC are:[1]
How to Find Charging Stations
When you are out and about or planning your next road trip, you wouldn’t want to be caught with a low charge on your EV. It is important to note the most accessible charging stations close to you wherever you are. There are a few different websites and applications that can be easily used to locate the nearest EV charging station:
- ChargeHub
- PlugShare
- ChargePoint
- Google Maps
