EV Rebates

Purchasing an electric vehicle has become increasingly cost-effective. You can apply for rebates on eligible vehicles such as: cars, SUVs, trucks, and vans, as well as charging stations. Currently, consumers who purchase or lease EV vehicles in the Province of BC may be eligible for provincial rebates and Canadian federal rebates. While consumers in Ontario do not have access to provincial rebates just yet, they may still be eligible for the Canadian federal rebates.

Receive Up to $5,000 in Canadian Federal EV Rebates (iZEV)

The Canadian Federal Government administers an incentives program for Zero-Emission Vehicles (iZEV Program) which offers rebates of up to $5,000 for eligible vehicle purchases or leases in Canada.

See eligible vehicles and iZEV rebates amounts here.

Eligibility for iZEV rebates is determined by the vehicle type. Full rebates are applied to purchased vehicles, as well as leased vehicles with a 48-month term. Adjustments to the rebate amount are made for 12-, 24-, or 36-month leases. To be eligible for iZEV rebates, vehicles must be new vehicles (never registered before), or demonstrators with less than 10,000 kilometers on the odometer. Furthermore, consumers can receive one rebate per calendar year.

iZEV rebates can be stacked and combined with Provincial rebate amounts specific to that vehicle model.

Is Your Vehicle Eligible For A Rebate?

Currently, vehicles bought in British Columbia could qualify for both a provincial and federal rebate. If your vehicle is eligible for both, you can combine these provincial and federal rebates.

How To Get Your Rebate

Before purchasing an EV, you need to be pre-approved for a rebate. Once your application receives approval, you have a one-year window to utilize the rebate. After this one-year period, your eligibility for a rebate expires, you need to re-apply.

Individuals are limited to receiving a rebate only once throughout the lifespan of the passenger vehicle rebate program. If you have received a rebate at any point after the program began in 2015, you are ineligible for another.
